Achroma
Achroma began with a nine-value grayscale inherited from a deceased family member. Working across painting, sculpture, and installation, the project explores grief, memory, and the experience of something being both here and not here through repetition and subtle shifts in value. A later group of paintings retained the same restricted palette while opening the work to greater gesture, movement, and improvisation.
Achroma improvisations
Made immediately after the original body of work, these paintings continue the nine-value grayscale while loosening its earlier structure. Broad gestures, layered marks, drips, and erasures turn the palette into a field for improvisation, allowing the work to move between control and intuition.
